Batu Puteh

Since Tenang will be having by election soon, the opposition led by Mr. Anwar the GAY have already start spinning old stories to confuse the voters in Tenang. One of the interesting spin is the "Pulau Batu Puteh". Anwar says that it is the UMNO fault that the island was lost to Singapore. It was UMNO failure to regain the island and it was UMNO who sold it to Singapore. 

 

Isn't it ironic to hear such stories from a person who is clearly have sold his morale, race, religion and corrupted? Anwar who is known for corruption dares to tell that UMNO is selling what is right to the Malays to Singapore. I can see clearly that PKR supporters are blaming UMNO for loosing the island but they failed to understand and see who was at fault. UMNO tried their best but lost due to technicallity. Before 1953, the ICJ accepted that Pulau Batu Puteh does belong to Malaysia but due to a letter from the Johor State Secretary to Singapore goverment stated that Johor have no claims on the island, ICJ sees it as Malaysia have release it's claims of ownership of the island.

 

"Pertama sekali kerana ialah kelemahan kita dari segi pentadbiran dan surat Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri pada 1953. Dari segi sejarah, pulau itu dan pulau lain sebenarnya adalah milik Johor. Mahkamah memperakui hak itu bersandarkan Perjanjian 1819, Mac 1824, Perjanjian Ogos 1824, Perjanjian 1927 dan sebagainya.

Bagaimanapun pada 1953, kerajaan Johor apabila ditanya oleh pihak Singapura mengenai status pulau itu menjawab bahawa pulau itu bukan milik negeri itu. Ini yang menyebabkan mahkamah menjadikan surat itu sebagai hujah untuk mengesahkan bahawa Johor sudah menyerahkan hak kedaulatan pulau itu kepada Singapura."

 

 

Nevertheless, ICJ does deliver another good news to Malaysia, before the case being brought to ICJ, Singapore made sure no Malaysian fisherman can catch fish near Pulau Batu Puteh. After the verdict, ICJ lift that banned and instructed Singapore that the waters surrounding the island does belong to Malaysia and Malaysian fisherman have the right to fish there.

 

We might lost Pulau Batu Puteh but the opposition forgets that it was UMNO who made the effort to win back "Batu Little Rock". How is it that this deed was not mentioned in Anwar the Gay speech?
